Professional Biography

I am a passionate design educator, Artist, designer, and research scholar with over 15 years of experience in academia and creative practice. With a postgraduate degree in Applied Arts and being a research scholar in Creativity and Design, I have trained and mentored aspiring designers .My academic journey includes leadership roles such as Associate Professor, Head of Department, Academic Coordinator, and Marketing and Communication Head for institutional events, where I have consistently contributed to developing curriculum, managing academic operations, and nurturing a creative learning environment.

My career spans across design instruction, interdisciplinary collaboration, research publication, and academic administration. I have also served as a CCRT research scholar, published several peer-reviewed articles, and guided numerous graduation projects and design thesis that blend design thinking with real-world problem-solving.

Academic Background

With a strong foundation in both fine arts and applied arts, I hold a Bachelor of Visual Arts in Creative Painting and a Master of Visual Arts in Applied Art, where I graduated with a Gold Medal from Bengaluru City University. Additionally, I earned a Master Diploma in Interior and Architectural Design, enriching my multidisciplinary approach to visual communication. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Creativity and Design at Jain Deemed-to-be University, where my focus lies at Design Education. My academic journey is complemented by certifications including KSET (Assistant Professorship) and CTET, and active membership in bodies such as the Design Research Council of India.

Research Interests

My research spans a dynamic intersection of communication design, pedagogy, sustainability. I explore how design education can respond to cultural, technological, and social shifts with a strong emphasis on student centric and Outcome-Based Education (OBE), I am particularly interested in how studio-based learning can integrate emerging methodologies like instructional design, digital pedagog, and user-centered approaches to better equip students for complex, real-world challenges. My academic writing is widely published in international journals, covering topics from expressive typography and visual identity to sustainable design practices and accessibility in digital media.

Teaching Experience

With over a decade of experience across diverse educational settings, I have taught subjects ranging from Visual Design, Typography, Advertising Design, and Research Methods to Design Thinking, Visual Merchandising, and Portfolio Development. As Head of the Department of Graphic and Communication Design at Acharya School of Design, I led curriculum design, faculty mentoring, and departmental growth along with guiding design thesis and graduation projects. My previous roles as Program Coordinator and Academic Coordinator reflect my commitment to academic excellence, student-centric pedagogy, and curriculum innovation. I’ve played key roles in institutional development, including serving on boards of examiners, coordinating Faculty Development Programs, and steering initiatives aligned with NIRF and NAAC accreditation.

CCRT Research Scholar – Ministry of Culture, Government of India

Awarded the Junior Research Fellowship (2016–2017) under the Scheme for the Award of Fellowship to Outstanding Persons in the Field of Culture, conferred by the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT). This prestigious fellowship recognized my commitment to advancing cultural and design knowledge through research. The experience deepened my understanding of traditional art forms, contextual design practices, and the role of cultural narratives in contemporary communication design.

Academic Coordinator

In my tenure as Academic Coordinator, I led cross-departmental academic operations and ensured excellence in curriculum delivery, outcome alignment, and faculty coordination. My work supported institutional objectives in teaching-learning practices, student support systems, and academic governance, reinforcing a structured and responsive educational environment.

Program Coordinator – Foundation Studies.

As Program Coordinator for the Department of Foundation Studies , I was instrumental in shaping the first-year design curriculum, combining traditional art techniques with contemporary design foundations. I facilitated interdisciplinary projects, enhanced teaching methodologies, and established a robust learning framework that laid the groundwork for student success in specialized design fields.

Head of Department – Graphic & Communication Design.

As HoD , I provided strategic academic leadership to the department, overseeing curriculum innovation, quality assurance, and faculty development. I played a key role in aligning the curriculum with Outcome-Based Education (OBE), integrating emerging themes like sustainability, systems thinking, and UI/UX, and strengthening student mentorship and academic rigor.

Curator & Marketing Lead

Led the planning, branding, and execution of Acharya Design Week, the institution’s flagship creative festival. Developed the event’s marketing strategy, digital presence and visual identity, managing a cross-functional team to ensure cohesive communication and industry outreach. This initiative elevated the institution’s visibility while offering students a dynamic platform for creative exploration.
